Friends for good.

I think there was a point in my life where I felt like I had the perfect amount of friends. I think that point was my senior year in college. I had friends from high school, friends who I was related too, friends I met in college both at BYU and in other places I studied. But I had good and strong relationships with almost all of them. Now, I feel like I have moved much further than that to having too many friends. Maybe because I still consider all of those mentioned as good (and often great) friends. But in amongst them have now been added friends from working real jobs, friends living in other states, friends I served missions with, friends who still reside in England, and so many others. I don't think it is a bad thing to have so many friends, but it has drastically impacted the relationships I have with each of them individually. Some I see so rarely. Some I still see everyday. And yet, in my mind, nothing has changed. I still have such vivid memories of so many wonderful moments with them. But our lives have moved past the daily chats or the weekly chats, or even really the monthly chats, possibly so far as to simply the annual Christmas card. And maybe, if I start now, I can at least do that much to maintain these relationships. Because more than anything, every single one of them has been for good in my life.

I haven't died

Just in case you were wondering. This summer has just been crazy busy! Loads of posts to catch up on. Someday my life will settle down. At least that is what I keep telling myself.

Life's a Happy Song

I don't blog as often as some, and have recently been encouraged to do it more often. I can't promise that, but I felt like blogging today. Mainly because my life is pretty grand right now.

At many different times in my life, I have had life songs. Lyrics that seem to describe perfectly the way I feel and the way my life is going. Lately, I haven't had anything that screams "Lacey's life." So I started listening to songs more closely, and I realized how depressing they are. So many are talking about how life is hard. How it's great being alone, but not really. Just depressing.

So, I looked for a song that spoke to my life and I came up with this one.

Cheesy, I know. I got the Muppets for my birthday and may have already watched it three times. But I just love it.
Everything is great. Everything is grand
I got the whole wide world in the palm of my hand.
Everything is perfect. It's falling into place
I cant seem to wipe this smile off my face.
Life's a happy song when theres someone by my side to sing along.

So, thank you to all who make my life so grand.

Yesterday was a particularly good day, as I had lunch with one of my old BYU roommates, Katie. Then I met up with my old roommate, Emily. Ran into my favorite senior couple from my mission. Then attended the wedding dinner for another old roommate, Abigayle, and got to spend a lovely evening with these girls that I love! Thanks for being such good friends, ladies.
I've got everything that I need right in front of me
Nothing's stopping me.
Life's a happy song when theres somone by your side to sing along

I am just continuously amazed at the number and quality of the people in my life. With Mother's Day, of course my mom is one of those, but really all of my family. Despite the small dramas we have, I am struck by the love and support between all of my siblings. Thanks for being awesome!

I also love how relationships change and morph, but in many cases never go away. Despite the fact that Courtney and I have known each other for almost a decade, and we rarely see each other, when we do, we pick up right where we left off. I love friends like that.

And for those of you who I don't hear from much anymore, or you don't hear from me, know that you have played an important role in my life too. Thanks for the impact you have had and continue to have in making me me.

Report on Lent

If you remember this post, you remember, that I had high goals for Lent this year. In report, I think I took the train to work about three times total (my goal was three times a week). I gave up sugar for a month, but caved early because of these delicious cookies that you can only get once a year.

I did, however, follow through on my facebook bit. While I had to use it for work (that was part of the deal) other than that, I stayed away. I missed a couple people's engagement announcements, a few event invites (that I heard about through other sources), and some major viral videos (my mom was the one who told me about the Kony video). Nevertheless, it was such a great experience. I realized how much time I really wasted on facebook. Since I have been back on, I have been so extremely overwhelmed by the amount of information in my newsfeed. It's been good to be able to reconnect with people, but I sure don't think I'll be spending as much time on the social network as I used to.

So, while Lent is over, it has been great to have some goals to work on. I think that's a big part of any progression, small, short, manageable goals. On this Easter Sunday, I am grateful for the opportunity that I have to continue to progress. There is no way I can be perfect on my own. It is only through our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ that I can return to live with my Heavenly Father. I am so thankful for His ultimate sacrifice for me.

Happy Easter!
