Across the Pond
Mail and Post. Two words that mean the same thing to me. However, that understanding comes from my 18 months of living in the isles of Britain.
So, to distinguish:
American: mailman, check the mail, mail a letter, etc.
English: postman (Pat for example), get the post, post a letter, etc.
Therefore, why are the names of our respective letter-carrying organizations so mixed up?
